So…how’s everyone doing?
I’ve been in a work haze but obviously popped my head above water to check in on The Bachelorette drama (I hesitate to even call it that when DV is involved, but the whole thing is undoubtedly messy). I hope at the very least ABC/Bachelor Nation takes some time before their next knee-jerk casting decision, but I don’t have high hopes. Also what a good time to remind you I interviewed Whitney and Conner Leavitt for the latest Brides cover.
Anyway this week’s issue is all about little life upgrades. I feel like there’s this idea that the Shoppies are best satisfied when we make a big purchase. But you and I both know that buying something small (but worthwhile) can have that same zing.
Tbh, this is less about budget-buying (although, yes!) and more about the fact that a lot of my most-repeated recommendations are small, easy-to-find items that simply make life easier. So I figured…why not share with the class?
Without further ado:
The Sweater Stone, $17: This one is technically $17, but it often goes on sale and I promise it’s worth it. I also bought “sweater shaver” and this works so much better—it’s basically a pumice stone you gently brush back and forth on your knits to get rid of pilling. Works like a charm, including on cashmere.
Gorilla Grip rug gripper pads, $12: Maybe I’ve been living under a stupid rock, but I kind of thought that rug pads were the end-all, be-all of ways to keep rugs in place. After one too many times of Barney messing up my entryway rug during playtime, I bought these stick-’ems and it’s stayed perfectly in place ever since.
Beekeeper’s Naturals Propolis Throat Spray, $14: Tbh I don’t do a lot of “wellness” products, but I have sworn by this throat spray for years. It tastes like honey and makes me feel healthier, even if it’s purely psychosomatic. (They make a kid’s version, too!)
Phone Lanyards, set of 8 for $5: I’ve talked about these before, but I’m a phone lanyard convert. They’re not indestructible (which is why it’s great they come in a pack of 8) but I think I had mine on for about 10 months before the wire gave and I had to swap it out. I think they’d be cute to throw in bachelorette goody bags, that sorta thing too!
Travel Pill Organizer, $6: I love my little pill organizer for planes, trains, and automobiles. The best thing about it is the different sized compartments, so you can fit things like Tums or vitamins.
Slice Safety Cutter, $10 $7: I don’t do well with sharp objects, but this little box cutter does the job and is way less heavy duty than others. It’s super helpful for my unpaid part-time job of opening and breaking down boxes.
Kitsch Mist Bottle, $10: Reviving my hairstyle is just the beginning for my mist bottle. I use it to spray down my plants, to kill mosquitos (I don’t like to use bug spray around Barney)—and probably more things I’m forgetting.
Milk Frother, $8: When I’m feeling fancy, I’ll blitz up some foam for my coffee in the morning, but mostly I use this for my Clevr Blends bevs—I love the Sleeptime Superlatte. [btw: Use code SHOPLINDY for 10% off at clevrblends.com]
Perfume Tester Strips, $9 for 500: Maybe this is a beauty editor thing, but because fragrance has gone so mainstream I’m including anyway. Truly so convenient to have tester strips on hand when you’re not sure if you want to wear a scent, or if you even like it.
Tide To-Go, 3 for $8: A classic. I keep them in every bag that matters and rarely do they go unused (plus, a very good way to make a friend if they’re in need).
Mini Broom and Dustpan, $13 $10: I inherited my mom’s distaste for little crummies all over the counter, so I use this to sweep them up before I go to bed. It’s so satisfying!
